...and the children, of Sderot, sing RED COLOR
medium: mixed media ( plaster, salt, sand, chains, glass, metal, news images, acrylic & ink, red-filtered led lights)
My words that wrap around the box-frame tell the story: "Thereâs a non-military town just outside of the Gaza Strip. It is home to a large number of Artists, Musicians & Poets; and, of course, to lots of children. It is a place that, when the code âColor Redâ is blasted on the city-wide loudspeaker system, everyone has only 15 seconds to reach a bomb shelter to save their lives. â¦and the children, of Sderot, sing RED COLOR."
"Red Color" is a song that is taught to the young children, in Sderot, to help them cope with the terror of the incoming rockets. It directs them on what to do from the very first warning to the very end of the attack. This town is filled with many children living through such a large number of rocket attacks (year after year) that, by the time they reach middle school, half of them suffer from P.T.S.D. ..very sad.
